Elizabeth W. Boyer, Associate Professor

My research explores hydrological and ecological processes that affect water quality (e.g., nutrients, metals, and sediments) and water quantity (e.g., streamflow and water yield) issuing from watersheds. I am particularly interested in how human activities and environmental variability influence conditions and trends in streams, rivers, and estuaries. My work aims to provide a scientific basis for design and implementation of land management programs and policies to mitigate the effects of pollution, and to protect, conserve, and restore surface waters.

Students & staff in my Lab typically conduct projects that involve field sampling, laboratory analyses, or modeling to identify the important processes operating in watersheds. Get involved with PSU's hydro-community! All interested are welcome to attend our weekly HydroHour, or to join the student chapter of the American Water Resources Association.
